Wizardry#1 Differences, etc.
Wizardry #1 Remake Differences from other consoles
| Reset is usable |
Although it is only available on the Windows version, resetting (returning to the last saved point and starting over) is possible.
By pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL to sign out, you can close Steam and start over from your last saved data.
The places where it is used are as follows:
・The teleporter was activated on the 10th floor.
-Restart level up.
・Status abnormalities that you want to avoid at all costs.
Do this without turning on the power so that you do not perform other operations or set up camp.
This is not recommended as it will cause the entire app, including other apps, to crash.
Please refrain from forcibly shutting down your console game machine.
|
| Reset is usable② |
You can end the adventure at any time by selecting “Abort Adventure”.
However, since the game ends after saving, it is not possible to avoid abnormal conditions.
The places where it is used are as follows:
・I encountered an enemy I didn’t want to encounter.
|
| Added option to turn fast combat on/off |
You can now play in high-speed battle mode, but only against identified enemies. From V1.1.
During battle, you can set it by pressing the R-alt key or the R2 button. You can fight without enemy motions.
Useful for Murphy’s Ghost, which has a long motion.
![]() During battle, if the ↑ icon appears in the bottom right, you are in high-speed battle mode.
|
| Added icon display for effect-continuing magic |
When using LOMILWA and MAPORTIC, an icon is now displayed in the bottom right corner. From v1.1 onwards.
On the left is LOMILWA and on the right is MAPORTIC
![]() Furthermore, the effect now persists even if you interrupt your adventure.
|
| Madalto’s damage is now on par with other models. |
Arcane spell MADALTO (Frostking) damage increased
Changed to 8-64 (8d8) (average damage is around 40) from v1.1.
|
| Rejuvenation (AGE)/vitality (VIM) cannot be restored | Unfortunately, in Wizardry #1 there is no way to rejuvenate yourself, so you cannot rejuvenate/revitalize yourself.
Setting the “Aging From Inns” Old School option to “Disabled” will prevent age increases/VIM declines. |
| You cannot stop the adventure inside the chamber. | You cannot pause your adventure in the room after defeating the fixed enemy encounter. If you want to pause your adventure, leave the room. |
| Enemies also have MP, and if you let them use magic for a while, they will run out of MP and will be unable to do anything. | It is effective against mages and demons, but if you want to do this on the 10th floor, you will need a character that has been trained to a certain level.
Once your MP runs out, there is a glitch that applies the same MP to any allies you summon, so you may want to try this out against a Greater Demon. It is utilized as follows: Kill 1 to 3 to reduce their numbers → MP will run out in about 20 turns, so just endure the magic attacks until then → Parry until the number increases to about 6 → Kill 3 and parry until the number increases. Repeat this. Killing 100 will give you 500,000 XP, but it will take a fair amount of time. Can be used in V1.1. It’s relatively easy if you have three MADI users of divine spells, but you can’t leave them alone because they have paralysis on physical attacks. If you don’t buff everyone’s AC to LO, there’s a risk that the rear guard will come forward and be paralyzed when the front guard is paralyzed. |
| If you receive a level drain higher than your current level, you will lose it. | Be careful when taking a character who has just changed class to a lower floor. |
| You can carry as many WERDNA’S Amulets as you have available item slots. |
If you pause the game after defeating WERDNA, WERDNA will reappear and drop WERDNA’S Amulet. Even if all six players are equipped with WERDNA’S Amulet, the enemies will use physical attacks, magic, and breath, so there is not much benefit in battle. (In the old PC version, there was a bug where enemies would not attack if all six players had it, but this does not happen in this version. However, it has +5 HP healing and 50% damage cut for both physical and magical damage, so it is less likely to die.) After handing over the equipment items at the entrance, enter the dungeon with the amulet to only one of the six players and level up. (You will receive 250,000 XP each time. After defeating WERDNA repeatedly, hand it over at the entrance and enter the dungeon repeatedly.) Please note that obtaining the clear reward multiple times is considered cheating from Ver1.1 onwards. After Ver. 1.1, if you obtain multiple clear rewards, the character’s status screen will display “Used Cheats” in red. Make sure that the “Used Cheats ” setting is set to “Disabled” on the Old School screen. |
| Revive fixed encounter enemies. | Enemies will revive if you return to town once. 1. In the dungeon, press the SHIFT key twice or the Y button twice, then select →, RETURN TO TOWN (interrupt your adventure). 2. You will be asked if you want to return, so select RETURN TO TOWN (return to town). 3. You will return to town, so select ENTER MAZE (enter the labyrinth). 4. Select REJOIN OUT PARTY (resume with the party in the labyrinth). 5. The parties in the dungeon will be displayed, so select the party you want to resume. |
| Form a mixed party of good and evil. |
It can be configured in the same way as the previous version.
For more information, see Party Organization .
|
| The top item is not appearing. | Have you only been fighting ” Monster Group 8 “ on this page and opening boxes? These enemies don’t drop the strongest item group, ” Item 5 “, so defeating them for the sake of items is a waste of time. You can either keep “Pause Adventure” until you get ” Monster Group 9 ” or ” Monster Group 10 “, or if Group 8 appears, we recommend just defeating the enemies and not opening the boxes. |
| Undead monsters are stronger than in other games. |
High chance of abnormal status. (Almost always occurs when attacked.)
Physical damage is difficult to penetrate. Physical attacks do so little damage that it seems as if the AC is twice as high as the stated value.
The magic resistance rate seems to be twice the stated percentage, as spells never seem to hit the target.
Be especially careful of Vampire, Dragon Zombie, and MAELIFIC.
|
| The party’s overall Luck value has a greater influence on the chance of an item dropping. | If you go to the 4th floor without putting Luck points in a treasure hunt with +1 equipment, items may not drop easily and you may end up with your initial equipment and only your level may increase. It is important to raise the Luck points of everyone, not just the person who opens the box, while doing the treasure hunt. Treasure hunts with +2 or more equipment are done with stats close to MAX, so the impact is hard to feel. It is recommended to compensate by changing stat boosts to point buys and putting all points into Luck. |
| Fixed enemies encountered on the 10th floor can now be escaped, making it impossible to select enemies. |
Since the items dropped are determined by the enemy, you
could dramatically increase your chances of obtaining rare items by continuing to run away until you came across an enemy that dropped the item you wanted (this applies to all older versions). However, in the DigitalEclipse Steam version, it is no longer possible to escape from the fixed encounter on the 10th floor, so this is no longer usable. |
| Differences from other models due to Apple II compliance. | Level 7 Figter in the control center will not appear again once it is defeated. Magic can be used even in surprise attacks (preemptive attacks). (It can be disabled in the OLD-SCHOOL options, so it is recommended to change the settings.) There is no choice for HAMAN and MAHAMAN, and the effect is activated randomly. There is a high probability of instant death for LAKANITO. When the game is cleared, equipment is confiscated. (It can be changed in the OLD-SCHOOL options.) Murphy’s Ghost and Will O’ Wisp may appear twice. You will also age in the inn and stables. Silence magic MONTINO does not work on enemies of level 8 or higher. All enemies from the middle floor onwards have sleep resistance, so KATINO and MANIFO do not work. If you choose to fight during friendly attacks, attribute changes from good to evil rarely occur. On the 6th floor, there is an event where a mysterious barbarian and a person named Ariel/Okura run away. (Confirmed on the original map) On the 7th floor, there is an event where you battle a fire dragon. (Implemented from 0.3. MAP appears in both console and original versions.) |
| Differences between the DigitalEclipse version and other models. |
All equipment items appear to drop from enemies.
Werdna’s room has a small room for returning to town.
The Early Access version had an XP cap of 9,999,999 from versions 0.1 to 0.4.
In the 1.0 release, the maximum XP limit is approximately 20,000,000.
(Normal class level limit 80-70, elite class level limit 50-40) In the 1.1 release, the maximum XP limit will be approximately 99,000,000.
(Normal class level limit 270-260, elite class level limit 240-230) Level drain can be cured at the temple (can be disabled with OLD-SCHOOL option).
Neutral ninjas will not be cursed if they equip a Shuriken. (No alignment checks are performed on job-specific equipment (curses due to personality differences).)
Evil alignment parties will not spawn friendly enemies.
Keys and blue ribbons are in a separate slot from items. (They are in a separate slot so there is no need to carry them around.)
The 6-7-8th floor maps can be selected from two types: console and original only in NEW AME.
You cannot escape from the fixed enemy encounter on the 10th floor.
Thief and Ninja can hide/use surprise attacks.
The terminology is different from the previous version.
・Critical hit → Instant kill
・Energy Drain → Level Drain
Fixed encounters (chamber encounters) → Guardian encounters (from 0.4. Fixed encounters up to 0.3)
・Mage spell → Arcane spell
・Priest spell → Divine spell
The gold key is the key to the door in front of the control center (from 0.4)
The magic names have modern names. (Tiltowait is untranslatable.)
You can hire NPCs at the bar. (You can disable this with the OLD-SCHOOL option.)
|

The number of HP dice rolled is the enemy’s level.

| What is a saving throw?
|
The saving throws listed as opening the status are:
There are three types: Resilience, Reflex, and Resolve.
A skill that allows you to avoid corresponding traps by establishing their indication.
For example, when Anti-Priest is activated, a high “Reaction” will allow you to avoid paralysis/petrification.
At level 40, it is 60-70% (the value varies depending on the job and race)
So it only happens rarely. The upper limit rises every time you level up, so the value is higher for normal classes. (Even for the same job, it seems that the value can increase or decrease by +5% depending on the race. Humans are about +5% higher.)
Ninjas have a low level cap, but the numbers are on the higher side.
Level 80 Dwarf Fighter
Resilience 110%, Reflex 95%, Resolve 115%
Level 74 Elf Mage
Resilience 85%, Reflex 100%, Resolve 85%
Level 77 Gnome Priest
Resilience 90%, Reflex 90%, Resolve 90%
Level 88 Halfling Thief
Resilience 95%, Reflex 110%, Resolve 110%
Level 55 Human Samurai
Resilience 85%, Reflex 80%, Resolve 70%
Level 53 Halfling Lord
Resilience 75%, Reflex 80%, Resolve 65%
Level 49 Halfling Ninja
Resilience 75%, Reflex 85%, Resolve 75%
Level 57 Human Bishop
Resilience 75%, Reflex 80%, Resolve 70%
*It’s not like you don’t need a thief if you just raise the level.
It’s okay to be aware to some extent that the worst-case scenario can be avoided.
-When a trap is set off on the thief, the fighter takes the hit while shielding him.
– Although the effects of Anti-Mage and Anti-Priest helped to avoid petrification, they were instead paralyzed.
